Which vaccines does my dog need?

Hollywood Hill Animal Hospital recommends the following core vaccines for dogs: Distemper / Hepatitis / Parainfluenza / Parvovirus (DHPP), Leptospira, Rabies, and Bordetella.  Exactly which vaccines your dog needs and how often she needs them depends on your dog's age, health history, and lifestyle.  Please see our Canine Wellness Plan for specific recommendations.

All vaccinations are administered after a complete health exam, to make sure your pet is healthy enough to receive them.  If your pet is showing symptoms of illness (e.g. fever, runny nose, infection), your pet will most likely need to be vaccinated once he has recovered.

Which vaccines does my new puppy need?

In order to be fully protected, your puppy will need to be vaccinated for Distemper / Hepatitis / Parainfluenza / Parvovirus (DHPP), Leptospira, Rabies, and Bordetella.  Both the DHPP and Leptospira vaccines need to be boostered, and the ages at which a puppy can be vaccinated varies among the different vaccines.   An 8-week-old puppy with no prior vaccine history will need a total of 4 visits to complete the puppy vaccination series.  Check out our Canine Wellness Plan for details on the puppy vaccination schedule.
